Los Angeles, CA, September 5, 2001 -- Guess?, Inc. (NYSE:GES) today reported that total August retail sales for the four weeks ended September 1, 2001 were $35.1 million, a decrease of 1.0% from sales of $35.4 million for the four weeks ended September 2, 2000. Comparable store sales for the August period declined 8.9%. Comparable store sales for the Company's full priced retail stores decreased 6.9%, and comparable store sales at the factory outlet stores decreased 12.0%.
