Los Angeles, CA, August 8, 2001 -- Guess?, Inc. (NYSE:GES) today reported that total July retail sales for the five weeks ended August 4, 2001 were $34.0 million, a decrease of 12.4% from sales of $38.8 million for the five weeks ended August 5, 2000. Comparable store sales for the July period declined 20.8%, somewhat better than the Company's previously stated expectation of an approximate 25% decrease. Comparable store sales for the Company's full priced retail stores decreased 21.5%, and comparable store sales at the factory outlet stores decreased 19.7%.
